About The Service Finder Tool

Directing families & caregivers to the help they need, when they need it.

The Richmond Kids Service Finder is for families and caregivers with questions about a child’s development. The tool asks a series of questions to help families find the best starting service provider for their child's unique needs.

How it works:

The Richmond Kids Service Finder tool was created by a group of local service providers working together to help families in Richmond access the programs and services they need, when they need them.

The tool takes you through a series of questions. Your responses to those questions will help us direct you to an appropriate service provider - the "starting point" service provider. We will give you the service provider’s contact information and a link to a referral form. Most starting points allow families to self-refer. Some require referral by another service provider (e.g. doctor or child care provider). You also have the option to download a PDF of the recommendation and your question responses. We recommend you share this with the service provider and/or your family doctor.

You will also be asked questions about basic needs, safety, finding child care, receiving adult support and connecting with others. If you choose to answer these questions, we will also provide you with the contact information for service providers that can help.

It is important to note that the "starting point" service provider may or may not be the one to provide service to the child or family. They may also not be the only one to provide service to the child or family. Each starting point service provider will work with the family and connect them to the programs and services that best meet their needs. Many of the service providers listed run waitlists and families should be aware that service is not immediate. The Richmond community has lots to offer to support children and families, including those on waitlists for services. During the COVID-19 emergency, physical program sites are closed. However, many early learning and family support programs are providing activities, outreach and support through social media, over the phone, by email and through video conferencing

To protect your privacy, the website does not ask for any personal information and your responses are cleared when you leave the site.
