Workshop Topic:  Nurturing the Natural Roots of Self-Esteem
Dr. Deborah MacNamara

Self-esteem has become a popular concept, with varying ideas on how to cultivate it in our children. There are two main strategies used to develop self-esteem, one built on shaky grounds and another that is more sustaining and enduring. The developmental roots of natural self-esteem will be discussed, along with strategies for providing for its growth. Child care educators and cproviders are ideally positioned to nurture an intrinsic sense of self worth in their child which will help grow them into their full human potential.

Presenter

Dr. Deborah MacNamara

Dr. Deborah MacNamara’s presentations are grounded in developmental and relational science and focus on understanding the roots of behaviour rather than managing surface symptoms. Across all  offerings, the emphasis is on how adults can create the conditions children need to grow into social, separate, and adaptive human beings—with caring, confident adult leadership at the centre. Rather than providing strategies or prescriptions, these presentations restore clarity around theadult’s role in helping children come to rest, grow emotionally, and reach their full human potential.
